Fiorentina have taken the first steps after their 5-0 defeat to Juventus by officially declaring Pantaleo Corvino’s contract will not be renewed.
The director of sport has received a great deal of criticism in recent months from fans and media over his work on the transfer market.
The Viola supporters staged an angry protest after last night’s 5-0 loss to rivals Juve, as this morning they hung a banner outside the training ground that read simply: 'You disgust us.' Now the first action has been taken.
“Fiorentina announce, in agreement with director Pantaleo Corvino, that his contract will not be renewed when it expires this summer,” read a statement.
“This allows the club to immediately start working on its future and a strategy to adopt with great clarity.
“We thank Corvino, who worked for many years at this club with total autonomy and faith. We will not forget that, aside from the last two seasons that did not satisfy anyone, Corvino helped Fiorentina become a team of high level, both in Italy and internationally.”
