Radja Nainggolan’s stunning volley broke the deadlock after both sides had rattled the woodwork, then in the second half Edin Dzeko, Stephan El Shaarawy and another Nainggolan effort sealed the scoreline.

“We could’ve done better, maybe been more decisive in front of goal and more attentive in defence,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“Most of the goals arrived when the game was already beyond us. We ran a lot and pressed well, but in the decisive moments of the match, Roma made the difference.

“Quality does come out in the long run and Roma are proving themselves this season. A team like ours has to hold out and make life more difficult for a great side like Roma.

“We had the chance to open it up again with Ante Budimir and they scored moments later. We need more experience, but you gain that by playing and this is a young team.

“Naturally, during every game the details change the balance of a situation and we’re still gathering experience.

“Our objective this season is to lay the foundations. Samp want to reach the top seven or eight places. The club started from scratch in July, as many experienced players left and we are creating a stronger Samp with these young players for the future.”
