Rolando Maran noted Cagliari “kept Krzysztof Piatek quiet a month ago and will try to repeat” that achievement now he’s at Milan.
It kicks off at 19.30 GMT, click here for a match preview.
“At this moment, we just have to focus on what happens on the field and not look at the table,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“We have a lot more to say in this campaign. At times like this, we need to gain confidence, analysing the negatives, but also the positives.
“We had the right attitude against Atalanta and must build on that. Milan have changed a great deal in recent weeks, as they now have Piatek who is deadly running into space, plus the quality of Lucas Paquetá in midfield.
“However, we already faced Piatek a month ago when he was playing for Genoa and kept him quiet then, so will try to repeat it.”
Valter Birsa, Cyril Thereau, Lucas Castro, Ragnar Klavan and Fabrizio Cacciatore are all out of action, while Alberto Cerri is probably only fit for a spot on the bench.
“I have considered a change of tactical system and we tried it out against Atalanta with three at the back, but we’ll see if there are any more adjustments to be made. Right now, we have to make do with what we have.
“Both Oliva and Kiril Despodov are new to Serie A, so it’s natural they’ll take a little more time to adapt.”
The Press conference was held before the bizarre incident which saw the Cagliari squad trapped inside their training ground by 100 dairy farmers staging a protest at the gates.
They blocked off the exits and wouldn’t allow the team to leave until several players had been filmed kicking over milk pails in solidarity.
