Bayern Munich have reportedly joined the race to sign Inter target Ivan Rakitic from Barcelona.

Inter were thought to be closing in on a deal for Rakitic, but Sport claims Bayern want the Croat to form part of their new-look team next season.

The newspaper explains the Germans have been ‘informed of his situation’ and are ‘willing’ to pay a ‘reasonable’ fee for his services.

Bayern are coached by Rakitic’s countryman Niko Kovac, but they would prefer to wait until the end of the season to negotiate his transfer.

Rakitic has been at Barca since 2014 and has two years left on his contract, but Sport writes he rejected a lucrative offer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

He would have used that to support his case for a new deal, but the Catalans disagree it is the right time to discuss a renewal, the publication asserts.

Sport concludes by warning the 30-year-old ‘will listen to offers if the situation gets entangled’ and that ‘there are many clubs on the prowl’, besides the Nerazzurri and Bayern.
