Brazil new boy Alex Telles has confessed that ‘I’d be lying if I said I didn’t expect to be called up by Italy.’
Alex Telles spent the 2015-16 campaign at Inter and is on record as saying that he feels Italian, given he holds an Italian passport and has grandparents from the peninsula.
However, the Porto left-back was recently called up to the Brazil squad for the first time after he scored the penalty that knocked Roma out of the Champions League.
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t expect to be called by the Italian national team,” he told reporters.
“Brazil have always been my dream, something I’ve fought for and been looking at for a while, but I thought Italy would call me up.
“In reality, however, playing for Brazil’s green and gold has certainly been my main objective since the start of my career.”
