Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia, Tuttomercatoweb and more all claim Montella has agreed basic terms not just for the rest of the season, but also until June 2020.

It is believed to be worth €1.5m per season, with an option to extend, and he should hold his first training session on Wednesday.

This is a return to the Stadio Franchi for Montella, who was already at the helm from 2012-15, overseeing 153 competitive games.

Since then, he has worked with Sampdoria, Milan and Sevilla, although the last two experiences resulted in dismissal during the same season.

Montella’s record with the Viola was 81 wins, 32 draws and 40 defeats.
