Igli Tare has reportedly told Milan he won’t accept the job of sporting director, despite not receiving a Lazio raise.
Paolo Maldini and CEO Ivan Gazidis had made clear their first choice for the role was Tare, who has been at the Olimpico for over a decade.
There were already suggestions in La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning that Tare had agreed to remain at Lazio with a new contract, increased to June 2023 and a doubled salary.
However, this evening Sky Sport Italia insist there will be no new deal, as Tare will simply remain on his current terms after snubbing the Milan job.
The Rossoneri had also approached Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi, but he too preferred to remain in Rome.
Now Milan are in the full swing of transfer season with no director of sport to negotiate deals.
