Italy Under-21 CT Luigi Di Biagio has slammed Roma for ‘hurting themselves’ over Francesco Totti and Spain for a lack of class.
The once-inseparable bond between Roma and Totti has broken after the club icon attacked James Pallotta’s board for ‘stabbing him the back’ and effectively forcing him out.
“I have an idea on the issue and I’ll talk about it with Francesco, although we’ve already talked about it,” Di Biagio, a former teammate of the No 10, said at a Press conference.

“I have an idea on the issue and I’ll talk about it with Francesco, although we’ve already talked about it,” Di Biagio, a former teammate of the No 10, said at a Press conference.
“From the outside, it seems as if they want to hurt themselves. After what happened with him, Daniele and in other situations, I don’t understand what’s happening, especially since in recent months, talking with Francesco between games of tennis, I saw him involved.
“He talked to me about sporting directors, Coaches, the players he wanted. I saw him ready to start a certain type of journey.
“It’s a shame for Roma and their fans. I don’t know what happened.”
Italy opened their European Under-21 Championship campaign on home soil with a 3-1 win against Spain and face Poland on Wednesday, knowing a win could send them through to the semi-finals.
“Tomorrow will be like a last-16 tie. It’ll be a totally different game, a physical one,” he continued.
“Poland know how to defend and counter very well. When they seem to be in difficulty, they know how to get out of it and hurt you.
“We’ll have to make a difference by winning the ball back and attacking with intensity, but we could take a big step forward.
“We are reliving Italia ‘9. There’s a desire for belonging. People want to celebrate and rejoice, so we must take advantage of that.
“Our philosophy is to change what’s needed, maybe 2-3 players.”
