There is fresh optimism that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will join Milan in January after it seemed like a deal had broken down.

Milan have yet to conclude a deal for Ibrahimovic, despite it being in the pipeline for weeks, with personal terms the stumbling block.

However, Italian news agency ANSA is now reporting that the former Sweden striker will accept the Rossoneri’s offer.

It comes just a day after the Diavolo were thrashed 5-0 by Atalanta – a result that has seemingly forced the club to push through the 38-year-old’s return.

Milan are currently 14 points away from their objective of getting back into the Champions League and have scored just 16 goals all season.

Ibrahimovic, for his part, will formally become a free agent on December 31, when his LA Galaxy contract expires.

The coast appears to be clear for the San Siro club, with Carlo Ancelotti having pulled Everton out of the running earlier today.
